George and Lennie, two wandering labourers, start work on a farm where the owner is harsh, his son insolent, and his new daughter-in-law nearly mad with boredom. George is big simple Lennie's protector and guardian, and Lennie idolises George with blind faith in his capacity to get him out of trouble. Together they dream that one day they may have a farm of their own, but their dream is threatened...
