on BBC Two England

A special film by Emmy award-winners Robert and Anne Drew follows the story of the extraordinary Nehru-Gandhi family, concentrating on three generations of modern India's 'dynastic democracy'. Spanning a period of 30 years, it follows Jawaharial Nehru, independent India's first prime minister, for a two-week period in 1962, includes the story of his daughter Indira Gandhi's efforts to build on her father's legacy while engineering the dynastic succession of her son, Rajiv, and covers Rajiv Gandhi 's assumption of power after his mother's assassination in October 1984.
