An appeal on behalf of THE St. ALBANS AND MID-HERTS
HOSPITAL, by the Rev. B. E. F. Mitchell , M.C., Mayor of St.
For nearly one hundred years the St. Albans and Mid-Herts Hospital has been serving a large and increasingly important district. With traffic ever growing on the main roads passing through St. Albans, the demands on the hospital have steadily and inevitably increased. Now the stage has been reached when, unless support from outside the district can be obtained, it will be impossible to maintain the hospital in a state of efficiency to deal with the road-accident cases constantly brought in for treatment.
The appeal that the Mayor of St.
Albans makes tonight is therefore one for help for a cause that might directly benefit, or even save the life, of anybody who is listening. For in these days of motoring, who can say with assurance that he will not be going through Mid-Herts in the near future, or that he will not need the services of this hospital?

About this project

This site contains the BBC listings information which the BBC printed in Radio Times between 1923 and 2009. You can search the site for BBC programmes, people, dates and Radio Times editions.

We hope it helps you find information about that long forgotten BBC programme, research a particular person or browse your own involvement with the BBC.

Through the listings, you will also be able to use the Genome search function to find thousands of radio and TV programmes that are already available to view or listen to on the BBC website.

There are more than 5 million programme listings in Genome. This is a historical record of the planned output and the BBC services of any given time. It should be viewed in this context and with the understanding that it reflects the attitudes and standards of its time - not those of today.
