Harry is Harry Coombs , an elderly widower.
Tonto is simply Tonto, his cat. When the inseparable couple are evicted from their West Side apartment, Harry decides to visit his relations. But circumstances and Ginger - a runaway teenager - change his plans. And there begins his greatest adventure as he wanders across the United States.
Art Carney won an Oscar for his vivid portrayal of an independent spirit on the loose in the land of 'opportunity'.
