Vintage Hollywood: Jane Eyre

Charlotte Bronte's famous story of the orphan Jane Eyre, who, after a desperately unhappy childhood, becomes a governess and meets for the first time the formidable master of Thornfield Hall, Mr Rochester.

Joan Fontaine was at the height of her success when she was cast as Jane Eyre opposite Orson Welles - in only his third screen appearance.
