The unique and elegant church steeple in the forecourt of the chapel of the Third United States Air Force Command Headquarters here in the United Kingdom symbolises, appropriately enough, a flight mission. Dedicated in 1962. the chapel is modern and comfortable and, to quote the Louisiana-born Base Chaplain, 'excluding beanstalks, it seats 400.' Some 1,200 Roman Catholic, Protestant. and Jewish servicemen and their dependants use the chapel every week, and a complete military religious programme for United States personnel and their dependants is provided.
